Helix piercings

Written by Jesse Boyd. A longer version of the helix note is in the journal, and the helix price is on the cost note.

Can I get a double helix piercing in one appointment?

Possibly. It depends on your anatomy, the intended spacing, your health, and the piercer's assessment. Two fresh cartilage piercings can require additional healing care.

Is a helix piercing more painful than an earlobe piercing?

The experience varies, but cartilage and soft tissue feel different. Some people find cartilage piercings more uncomfortable than lobe piercings.

Can I sleep on a helix piercing?

Avoid direct pressure on a healing helix. Pressure can contribute to irritation, swelling, and changes in the piercing angle.

When can I wear a hoop in my helix?

That depends on the placement and healing stage. A piercer can assess whether a hoop is appropriate. Do not change jewelry prematurely.

What is the difference between a forward helix and a standard helix?

A standard helix is placed along the outer upper ear cartilage. A forward helix is placed on the front-facing cartilage near the point where the ear meets the head.

Does every ear suit a hidden helix?

No. Hidden helix designs depend on ear anatomy and jewelry fit. A professional assessment is needed to determine whether the desired style is suitable.
